Guten Tag, Herr Lehmann,
danke für die schnelle Rückmeldung.
Das ist schon grundsätzlich richtig, was Sie über KVK und "WorldCat"
schreiben.
Es geht mir ja gerade darum, unseren eigenen Katalog in seiner Qualität
(Sacherschließung sowie zusätzlich - über RAK hinaus - erfasste Personen,
wie Buchgestalter, Illustrator, Drucker, etc.) zu erhalten.
In einem Verbund würden diese Besonderheiten verloren gehen und durch
normierte Datensätze ersetzt werden, an die wir nur Lokaldaten anhängen
dürften.
Auf der anderen Seite sollten wir aber auch alles tun, damit man unseren
Katalog überhaupt findet, bzw. um auf die Existenz unserer Bibliothek und
deren Bestand erst einmal aufmerksam zu machen.
Wer primär oder ausschließlich über den KVK sucht, findet uns aber nicht!
Im "WorldCat" kann man aber über den KVK recherchieren, indem man nur ein
Häkchen davor setzt. Das mache ich täglich und finde dort Sachen, die ich
in keinem deutschen Verbund finde.
Dass die Qualität dort nicht optimal ist, stört zunächst mal wenig.
Natürlich wird man nicht alle Kategorien unserer Original-Datensätze dort
wiederfinden. Das ist schade und an dieser Stelle zunächst mal nicht zu
ändern. Aber es erhöht die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass man uns überhaupt
findet und unsere Existenz zur Kenntnis nimmt.
Dann wird ein halbwegs interessierter Mensch, schon auf die Idee kommen
nach unserer Institution und unserm WEB-OPAC zu suchen. Und dort findet er
hoffentlich mehr an Information.

bitte nicht. an den KVK, besser: IN den KVK kommt keiner alleine rein! sie
haben KEINE chance!
ich weiss, wovon ich rede!
ich sage mal: in den KVK kommen sie NUR rein, wenn sie "mitglied" in einem
verbund sind. dann ist es KEIN problem ;-)
zum "word cat". die qualität ist m.E. äußerst mies!
den "world cat" biete ich "meinen" leuten NURF dann an, wenn es nichts
anderes gibt ;-)

this still requires users to open multiple Web pages, each pointing to a
different OPAC with its own distinctive user interface design (which
places item status in a different portion of the Web browser display),
until they can locate a catalog entry that shows the item is currently
available at a particular library.
